Using a PC as my source, I paired this DDC with my R-8HE MK3 using a Ricable Supreme (0.5m) I2S cable. The results are spectacular and the difference it makes in the system is night and day. The soundstage depth and space are incredible. The instruments are clearly pushed way back behind the speakers, creating a brilliant, layered 3D presentation. If you own an R8HE DAC, this digital interface is not just an addition—it is an absolute must-have!

Zoals verwacht levert de Grimm AES interlink een perfecte koppeling tussen de MU1 en mijn actieve stand based speakers (KAD K5). Nu bezig met uitgebreide luistertesten waarbij we de WiSA (24/96) koppeling (Primare SC15) vergelijken met directe AES/EBU aansluiting. Uiteraard bevat de aansluitketen in het laatste geval één apparaat minder wat ongetwijfeld in het voordeel zal spreken voor de directe AES aankoppeling. Utilisation dans mon système : relié au réseau internet par un pont optique LHY. Streamer/DAC Meitner MA3i. Ecoute : Amélioration évidente. On sent que le DAC travaille moins et mieux. Recul du bruit de fond et silence total entre les notes. Le signal semble purifié. La scène sonore et les détails sont plus précis et les instruments mieux séparés. Rendu de type analogique et fluide. Conception et construction très sérieuses. Bien que d’un prix élevé (mais moins que certains concurrents), c’est un apport qui m’apparaît maintenant comme indispensable pour optimiser un système de très bon niveau si on veut passer majoritairement par un streamer. Remarque : bien utiliser les « zones » différentes de branchement que l’appareil offre. "Zone Rouge" rapide (2.5G) pour le routeur ou le NAS, et une "Zone Verte" ultra-silencieuse et isolée (1G) dédiée uniquement au streamer audio. Être également très attentif à l’installation électrique et notamment aux boucles de masse par rapport aux autres appareils de la chaine. Justement, le switch est doté très intelligemment d’un interrupteur de masse très pratique pour jouer sur « ground » ou « float ». Je recommande très chaudement.

Het is een goed/degelijk gebouwde DAC. De DAC is een nieuw element in mijn audio setup. Je moet wel experimenteren hoe je de DAC gaat gebruiken. Ik had eerst mijn roon gecertificeerde streamer op aangesloten. Toen ik dit wijzigde door mijn roonserver direct (via usb) te koppelen aan de DAC werd het geluid een stuk beter! Ik stel nu de aanschaf van een streamer even uit met deze setup.Het minpunt vd DAC vind ik de volume regeling. De DAC is nu aangesloten aan mijn pre-amp. Via de pre-amp regel ik het volume.

The "SW-10PRO" has been running in my setup for about a week now and I absolutely love it. I hadn't expected such a significant improvement in sound quality with my already quite high-end system. Voices and instruments are much better separated than before, and the intelligibility of the vocals in particular has improved considerably. Even with my floor-standing speakers placed close to the wall, the depth of the soundstage has increased even further. I connected the "SW-10PRO" between an existing switch and my streamer using fiber optic cables.

Als je hoogstaande audioapparatuur zoals een high-end streamer in huis hebt staan is de Netwerk Isolator van Matrix Audio een aanrader. Hoe beter de audio apparatuur hoe beter het verschil met en zonder Isolator hoorbaar is.

I already have two of the Matrix X-SPDIF 2 DDC, which I have found to be excellent (I use one in my headphone-only system and the other in my mainly speaker system, both of them taking their signal from an audio-fettled fanless computer). I wanted to get an X-SPDIF 3 to use in another place, but found that it had just been discontinued. After some intensive research, I decided to try the Singer SU6 instead. I do not regret it. It is at least as good as the X-SPDIF 2, and in some respects a little better. It has great tonal colour but is also not too lean. Despite its design, it sounds better with a good linear power supply feeding it (I am using a W4S LPS1) with a good DC cable (and the right one for the place: I tried 2, one an MCRU pure silver one and the other a Ghentaudio Mundorf Angelique copper one). Whatever Audio Science Reviewers may say, digital signals sound different via different routes. Returning to the review, in summary, the SU6 is very good.

I'm deducting one point from the rating because for me this is not a DC coupled DAC, I wrote about this to the manufacturer, the red Wima capacitors are in the signal path and are after the current/voltage converter and the analog LP filter, there is a 2.18V series voltage on them. As for the sound, it's good that the DAC doesn't sound flat or grainy, the sound is clean with a deep black background and the specific timbre of the AKM, as a minus - the soundstage is not as open as on my other DAC - PME Adi-2 DAC FS, another thing I can't shake off while listening to it - I have the feeling that these polyester capacitors also add a bit of a plastic character to the sound / this should be taken with a grain of salt until I find a way to really test it without capacitors /, I'm also thinking of making a completely new analog part for it in a separate box with a servo, I have a very good class A circuit. Another thing that worries me a little is the heating of the operational amplifiers with mounted radiators - it should be tightly closed and should be in a place with good ventilation, uncovered, otherwise it heats up quite a bit. I hope the manufacturer has correctly understood the cooling, the output stage also works in class A with a current of 8mA if memory serves me correctly. It does its job perfectly and flawlessly, greatly improving older CD quality (16bit/44.1kHz) music, but the improvement is clearly audible even with higher resolution music. More accurate spatialization, dark background, "calmer" sound.
