DMP-A8 Gen2 Standard vs Master Editon
The DMP-A8 Gen 2 and DMP-A8 Master Edition Gen 2 share the same core platform: the AK4191EQ + AK4499EX DAC architecture, fully balanced analogue preamp, 8.6-inch display, streaming platform, SFP networking and support for PCM 768kHz/32-bit and DSD512.
The Master Edition is essentially the more ambitious version, with three major additions:
| DMP-A8 Gen 2 | DMP-A8 Master Gen 2 |
| DAC architecture | AK4191EQ + AK4499EX | Same |
| Streaming / network | Same | Same |
| Analogue preamp | Fully balanced | Fully balanced |
| Clock | Dual ultra-low phase-noise clocks | OCXO + PLL |
| External clock input | No | Yes, 10MHz |
| CD playback | No | Yes |
| CD ripping | No | Yes |
| Dimensions | 388 × 265 × 88 mm | 388 × 265 × 98.5 mm |
| Positioning | High-end all-in-one | Audiophile flagship |
The biggest technical difference is the clocking system. The Master uses a temperature-controlled OCXO (Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator) combined with PLL technology, plus a femtosecond-level system clock. It also allows connection to an external 10MHz reference clock.
The second major difference is the integrated top-loading CD mechanism. The Master can play CDs directly and also rip them to your internal music library.

Exceptional Design. Effortless Elegance.
Aerospace-grade aluminum chassis, solid yet refined. Clean and understated, with a premium tactile feel. The metal chassis provides natural shielding, reducing external interference for a quieter background and greater clarity. More than a chassis, it becomes part of the listening experience, unifying form and sound.
evotune™ PRO Room Correction
Every room shapes the way sound is heard. Reflections, standing waves, and room geometry all influence tonal balance and soundstage performance. The upgraded evotune™ Room Correction System goes beyond frequency-response adjustment. It analyzes how sound behaves throughout the listening environment. DRC-based modeling and FIR filtering process frequency, timing, and spatial information together for more stable correction and clearer imaging.
