The DI-25HE is a worthwhile upgrade. I came from a Singxer SU6, also from Magna, which actually was a really good product, but only after replacing the PSU by a linear one. Yes, the supercaps in the su6 should make the psu not important, not my opinion. After some time, the hifi nervositas creeps in again, could it get better? Yes it can, the DI-25HE is a clear upgrade from the Singxer, even with the good linear PSU (Plixir). Quieter, clearer formed transients, better imaging, clearer bass.... It feeds my Audio-GD - R7HE mk2. Attached is an external clock (ock2 from LHY) which brings a minimal improvement. Probably we need to invest more here to get another significant step up. Later maybe. As big as the R7HE is, shouldn't it sound as great as with all these helpers? Anyway. This audio-gd source army gives listening pleasure! Oh yes, it does. By the way, NOS won most, am only rarely using Hqplayer's oversampling facilities, though its world-class room correction eqs will stay... Magna Hifi is a great place!

I have had the Holo Audio Red streamer for almost a year now. I purchased it first and foremost for sound quality, but also for its incredible versatility! My family listens to Tidal, while I mostly listen to listen through Roon with occasionally using HQPlayer for upsampling Roon streams to either 1.536MHz PCM or DSD. Overall I have really liked the unit. First of all, it sounds great. I have it connected to a Denafrips Pontus II over I2S and Chord Qutest over USB. I'll get to why two DACs in a minute. With both DACs, the Red works like a dream and I haven't had any glitches. The streamer is responsive and does not drop streams. With Tidal, the Tidal app sometimes forgets that Red is playing over Tidal connect, but the music does not stop. I assume this to be an issue on the TIdal app side but it rarely happens and when it does, I usually don't notice for a long time as the music itself does not have cuts or drops. So why four and not five stars? While the hardware and RedOS leave nothing to be desired in terms of sound quality, there are a few limitations that I hope the Holo Audio team can address with future updates to the RedOS: - Tidal Connect - exclusivity: whatever output Tidal Connect is set to use, cannot be used by any other streaming protocol. So to use both Roon and Tidal, I need to connect the Red to DAC(s) with two cables. Either connect both to the same DAC and switch inputs when switching from Tidal to Roon, or connect Red to two DACs and switch input on your amp. I ended up doing the latter as I happened to have two DACs but ideally I didn't have to. On the positive side, I can share the I2S output between Roon and NAA without issue. Roon takes over from NAA if you start playback. NAA doesn't take over from Roon but you'll have to stop Roon first. Still, they can share the output pretty well. Not so with Tidal. - Tidal Connect - no support for Max: This is a minor gripe but sort of annoying that while Tidal has much of their catalogue in 48/96/192kHz resolution, the Red caps out at 44.1kHz. This has been the case for more than a year now. C'mon team Holo - don't leave a good thing half done! - Configs and UI: The management interface for the Red is a bit clunky, and it is not at all clear how to get things working. Prior to purchasing the Red, I tried to read the manual to figure out how the Roon/Tidal use would work, and whether it would be smooth. It didn't really provide much to understand that. I bought the Red blind in this regard and then just figured out how to make Tidal, Roon and NAA co-exist through trial and error. Figuring out the I2S pinouts was also a bit of a mystery but the excellent Magna Hifi customer service helped me out there. I think there's lots of room for improvement here too, but it's manageable. - Qobuz Connect: Not available on the Red, yet. I am not currently a Qobuz subscriber but they offered a three month free trial after launch and would be fun to test it out. So for all that, I am taking off one star. But note that my use case is maybe less simple than with most people. If you just use one streaming service, once you set up the Red for that purpose, you'll probably never spend a moment thinking about the UI. If I just used Roon, this would be a very short five star review. But as there are some hiccups around my use case, wanted to share them so they don't come as a surprise. It seems that Holo Audio has put together an amazing piece of kit with a good but hopefully still evolving software package. A little more progress on the software side could really make the Red more accessible to folks that are more plug-and-play. I really hope that'll happen.

I was initially drawn to the Laiv uDAC’s sleek appearance, but in the end, the sound left me underwhelmed. Not bad, just overhyped in my opinion. In a direct comparison with the Cyan2, the difference is clear. The Cyan2 offers fewer bells and whistles, no unnecessary features—just pure sound quality. And that’s exactly what I look for, and expect, in a DAC.

Vooraf: de Pink wordt gebruikt in een Holo Spring dac. Wat ik daar denk te horen is dat de voeding van de Spring het met een Pink gemakkelijker krijgt. In de muziek: die kleine geluidjes, waarmee klankkleuren en plaatsing de ruimte gevormd worden, daar zit samen met de verbeterde dynamiek de grote winst. Waarbij opgemerkt: dat subtiele effect wordt duidelijker naarmate de bezetting kleiner wordt. In rock of symphonische muziek is dat verschil hoorbaar, maar maakt weinig uit voor (mijn) muzikale beleving. Maar in kwartetten of solo (Chopin!) is dat subtiele het verschil tussen een prachtige opname of een gemiddelde. Voor degene die mijn muzikale smaak voor die kleinere bezetting deelt is een Pink een no brainer.

Outstanding performance. From a topping d70, i tried Gustard R29 and Gustard X30. None of them really felt like the big upgrade I was looking for. But once I bought the Cyan 2 I was instantly satisfied with the sound, exactly what I was looking for. Clear, dynamic, staging and imaging, great bass while still not being harsh at all. And I have still not tried it with upsampling. Im extremely satisfied with this purchase.

It was great! About three years ago, I purchased an Audio gd DI20 - HE from Rob at Magna Hifi, which was a very pleasant and satisfying experience. A month ago, I decided to upgrade to Audio gd DI25 - HE, but had concerns that the I2S Input would be limiting to my input requirements, as my streamer does not have I2S. Jos kindly offered to add an RCA SPDIF input to the unit, which I was delighted to accept. I received delivery fairly quickly (after a few hiccups with Customs). Packaging and condition were in excellent condition. Having installed the unit and played music through it without amplification (SPDIF and RCA) 24/7 for three weeks before serious evaluation, I'm very delighted to report that there's an obvious improvement in SQ across the board over DI20 - HE.....wider and deeper soundstage with greater specificity and location of voice and instruments. There's also improvement in dynamics and elasticity of tone. I've added 10Mhz clocking to the unit after initial evaluation and there's a further improvement which is truly awesome. I would like to thank Jos for his superb kindness and support throughout our interactions.....Magna Hifi is the place to go for your hifi needs...Jos and Rob are the best.

I already ordered a Bliss KTE from Magna and since 2 days I am a proud owner of Spring 3 KTE for my secondary office setup. Spring is now about 40 hours of burn-in and it is getting more and more beautiful. The sound is very beautiful and non-fatiguing (speaking as a Chord Dave owner). Excited what happens about 200 hours burn-in. Thanks to Rob and Jos for their patience and kind support. You both do an awesome job. Delivery to Germany was very fast. I tested the Spring 3 KTE including Preamp against an Accuphase C-2300 Preamp. Since I only use one digital source (Holo Red), streaming from Qobuz and Tidal, I wanted to know if I really need a preamp as everyone was writing and telling me. The Spring 3 KTE clearly won this comparison in my system. I connected the Spring to an Accuphase A-48 power amp and compared it with Spring (set to volume 90 as recommended by Jos) to C-2300 to A-48 with Dali Helicon 800 speakers (with new drivers) and high quality power, XLR and speaker cables. Astonishingly, the C-2300, which was burned in for about 250 hours, tuned with special feet and expensive power cable, reduced micro details, changed the stage to the worse and emphasized mids and upper bass unnaturally for my ears. The Spring directly with the A-48 delivers a magic mix of high resolution, very good dynamics and presence and separation paired with a unique "analogue" like relaxedness. The best DAC/preamp I ever heard in my system. Before I had the Cyan 2 which I tested with various integrated amps from Accuphase, Pass and McIntosh. I also hooked up the Cyan 2 to the C-2300 and A-48: No comparison to the Spring direct to A-48. A few weeks ago I did the same comparison with a Ferrum Wadla Golden Sound. To me, the Wandla sounded much too thin with emphasized highs and lows as I was used from other ESS DACs, even if this model is supposed not to sound like ESS. If you only listen to digital, the Spring 3 KTE with built in preamp with an A-48 or another good Power Amp is the ultimate solution sound wise and price performance wise for my ears. Before the Cyan 2, I had the Denafrips Ares, which was much better than the Bluesound Node. Cyan 2 is a big step up from the Ares. Spring is also a big step up from Cyan 2 in a revealing system. Many thanks to Jos whose level of support is unsurpassed. He answers all the many questions which might arise before such purchases with unparalleled patience and honesty. It is an absolute pleasure shopping with Magna Hifi, even if it is an online shop. It beats many physical shops in service, advice, reliability and shipping speed. Spring 3 KTE with built in preamp and Magna Hifi are highly recommended.

After reading all the positive reviews, I decided to sell my brand new JDS Labs Element IV, and to get the X9. This is my 3rd product from Magna Hifi (other 2 are Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE dac, Mano ULTRA mkIII.5 Farad music streamer). And the X9 is a clear upgrade from the already very good for its price JDS Element IV. The X9 has an even better EQ, and tons of other great settings and options. Everything is very intuitive, and Luxsin listens very closely to all the owner feedback on Head-Fi.org, and comes with frequent firmware updates. Especially the headphone EQ with 2500+ preprogrammed headphone EQs in it is wonderful and very effective. Now I just need to upgrade my headphones as well 😉 Rob as always thanks for the good support and communication. The Luxsin X9 meets and surpasses my expectations based on all the reviews.

The Singxer SA90 power amps perform excellently, delivering a clean and well-balanced soundstage. After some hours of use, the sound opens up noticeably and feels more natural. The trigger inputs work flawlessly, which is very convenient – thanks for the great service!

Unfortunately, the Luxsin wasn’t quite what I had hoped for. I was especially curious about the ability to apply different EQ settings to headphones, and while the sound changed noticeably, sometimes for the better, sometimes not, it felt like a bit too much hassle to keep tweaking. I had hoped the supplied profiles would give my headphones that final touch of improvement. That said, the width and crossfeed adjustments work surprisingly well! As for the headphone amplifier and DAC, they are truly impressive, coming surprisingly close to the performance of my usual DAC and headphone amp combo that costs five times as much as this Luxsin X9.

The Holo Bliss KTE pairs beautifully with my Hifiman Susvara; I’ve never enjoyed these headphones this much. It also shines as a preamp, letting me sell two other devices and free up space. The sound is big, natural, and engaging, with zero listening fatigue. I can’t wait to add the Spring 3 next.

Voor het geld, niet te verslaan. Laat duidelijk horen waar andere kabels kleuren. Soms subtiel, maar toch. Wil je meer, dan de driade flow, kost wel even wat meer. Veel beter dan bv de mogami 3080. Gewoon proberen, grote kans dat je niet meer zonder kan.

Het heeft even geduurd voordat ik deze review kon maken betreffende de Holo Audio Cyan 2 DAC die ik eind vorig jaar bij Magna Hifi heb aangeschaft en daar zijn twee redenen voor. Maar eerst dank aan Magna Hifi voor de vriendelijke, professionele en snelle afhandeling van mijn bestelling. De eerste reden is om rustig de tijd te kunnen nemen om een goede indruk te krijgen van deze DAC in mijn set-up en een vergelijk te kunnen maken met mijn vorige Dac’s van RME, Chord, Metrum en nog wat andere apparaten- allemaal geen R-2R Dac’s. Ik hou van een helder, analytisch en gedetailleerd geluid en de oudere generaties R-2R Dac’s konden daar, naar mijn smaak, niet aan voldoen. Sinds mijn laatste upgrade in mijn set-up met nieuwe Borresen luidsprekers werd het tijd om eens een nieuwe DAC te overwegen. Uiteindelijk bleven er twee kandidaten over: LAiV Harmony DAC en de Cyan 2. De LAiV is een serieuze DAC maar, kort gezegd, te ‘warm’ klinkend voor mij en met het prijskaartje daarom ook niet interessant. Na het lezen en bekijken van wat reviews werd het dus de Cyan 2 en daar heb ik geen spijt van. Deze DAC zorgt voor een natuurlijke, precieze, analoge en muzikale weergave, waarbij de textuur en de ruimte rondom instrumenten en zangstemmen heel realistisch worden afgebeeld. Ook de ruimtelijke afbeelding van de muziek wordt, zowel in de breedte als in de diepte, heel goed weergegeven. Natuurlijk is e.e.a. sterk afhankelijk van de gebruikte apparatuur en de persoonlijke smaak. Ik heb de indruk dat de R-2R Dac’s van de laatste generatie een duidelijke stap hebben gemaakt als het gaat om een gedetailleerde en precieze weergave van de muziek, waarbij het analoge karakter (kenmerk van R-2R Dac’s) niet verloren is gegaan. Daarbij valt op dat de bouw, en klankmatige kwaliteiten van niet-Europese merken enorm is toegenomen…. Goed, nu de tweede reden voor deze review en misschien interessant voor andere Cyan 2 gebruikers. Na een paar maanden geluisterd te hebben naar de Cyan 2 zocht ik naar een manier om de DAC klankmatig naar een nog hoger plan te krijgen. In de eerste plaats heb ik de bekabeling tussen DAC en versterker geüpgraded en daarna die tussen CD loopwerk en DAC en dat gaf inderdaad een verbetering. Kortom: alle kwaliteiten van deze DAC kwamen nog wat meer uit de verf. Daarna overwoog ik een DDC aan de set-up toe te voegen. En daarbij viel mijn oog, na het lezen van wat recensies, op de Laiv uDDC- helaas niet leverbaar bij Magna Hifi. En ook van deze aanschaf heb ik geen spijt- sterker nog: in de juiste set-up een aanrader als de financiën het toelaten. Na het aansluiten vallen, koud uit de doos, al meteen een aantal zaken meteen op: Meer rust in de weergave en klanken lijken uit een ‘zwarte’ achtergrond te komen. Dit is misschien wel het belangrijkste kenmerk van deze DDC. Deze eigenschap geeft andere klankmatige verbeteringen alle ruimte. De muziek klinkt vloeiender en tonen lijken uit het niets op te komen. De bassen lijken in eerste instantie wat ‘slanker’, maar zijn bij nader inzien beter geïntegreerd. Noten zijn ook wat ‘gearticuleerder’. Al met al wordt het ook wat verfijnder en met een iets grotere soundstage en een meer holografische muzikale afbeelding. Deze DDC blijft dus en gaat niet meer uit de keten. Nog een paar opmerkingen: Een I2S (HDMI protocol) aansluiting is noodzakelijk. Door het toevoegen van deze DDC heb je de mogelijkheid van handmatige bronkeuze; voor sommigen het grootste nadeel van de Cyan 2. Ik heb een Ricable HDMI (audio) kabel van ca. €75,00 aangesloten tussen de DDC en de Cyan 2 ken en zie niet direct de noodzaak voor een duurdere kabel. In mijn geval was de meerwaarde klankmatig genoeg om geld hieraan te besteden. Mijn set-up heeft een nieuwwaarde van ca. €30.000 (inclusief vinyl draaitafel). Ik ben erg blij met de recente verbeteringen in mijn set-up, de synergie tussen de verschillende component ervan is toegenomen en daarmee ook mijn genieten van de muziek!
